With the recent arrest of a Salvadoran national for the murder of missing intern Chandra Levy, the issue of crime attributed to illegal aliens is and should be on the minds of millions of Americans.

Ingmar Guandiqua who was is in this country illegally, is currently in prison for the assault of two other women in Washington D.C. He was actually arrested only a few days after Levy’s disappearance on burglary charges, though law enforcement was aware of his illegal status, Immigration and Customs Enforcement was not notified due to the District’s sanctuary policy.

While Chandra Levy may be the most well known American who has been killed by an illegal alien, she is only one in a staggeringly large and ever-growing group.

The federal government does not keep comprehensive statistics on the number of crimes committed in this country by illegal aliens. Taking a look at the results of a few independent studies, it is not surprising that they don’t.

In 2006, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) released the results of a study which found that 4,380 Americans are murdered every year by illegal aliens. The study also concluded that 4,745 Americans are killed every year by illegal aliens driving drunk.

In 2005, the Government Accountability Office announced the results of a study which examined the criminal history of 55,322 illegal aliens who were incarcerated in federal, state, and local institutions during the year 2003. The results of that study follow:

The 55,322 illegal aliens in the study accounted for a total of 459,614 arrests (or eight arrests per illegal alien). Their arrests represented a total of nearly 700,000 criminal offenses (or 13 offenses per illegal alien). 36 percent of those studied had been arrested at least five times previously.

Peter Wagner, the author of “The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration,” summed up the situation when he told WorldNetDaily: “While the vast majority of illegal aliens are decent people who work hard and are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families, it is also a fact that a disproportionately high percentage of illegal aliens are criminals and sexual predators.That is part of the dark side of illegal immigration and when we allow the ‘good’ in we get the ‘bad’ along with them. The question is, how much ‘bad’ is acceptable and at what price?”

Speaking of the price we are paying, the Ohio Jobs and Justice Political Action Committee has set up an on-line memorial for victims who were killed by illegal aliens. They continuously update the site and have an extensive list of victims’ names, along with some information on the victim, as well as a brief history on the criminal case. What follows is a small sampling of some of the more recent cases:

Victim: Breanna Slaughter-Eck

Age: 12

In late 2008, Breanna was riding her bicycle in San Jose, California when she was allegedly hit and killed by unlicensed illegal alien Adriana Fierro DeMarin, who now sits in jail awaiting trial.

Victim: Nayashieka Cooper

Age: 19

Ms. Cooper and her 3 year old son were walking down a street in Athens, GA, when Mexican national Abel Gonzalez-Perez ran her over and immediately fled the scene (police captured him three days later). Her little boy sat by his mother and watched helplessly as she lay dying next to him.

In January 2009, Gonzalez-Perez pled guilty to DUI, vehicular manslaughter, and hit and run.

Victim: Lila Meizel

Age: 83

Ramon Alvarado, Jose Alvarado, and Ana Rodas are all in the country illegally and have been arrested for the 2008 murder of Mrs. Meizel. The three allegedly beat the elderly woman to death, then burned her body in an attempt to cover-up the crime scene.

Even though the Alvarado cousins had several prior arrests, local authorities never notified ICE of their immigration status because Montgomery County, MD has a sanctuary policy in place.

Victim: Dean Knospe

Age: 71

On January 22, 2009, Mexican national Eulalio Haro was convicted in the 2006 hit and run death of Mr. Knospe. Haro who was driving under the influence, hit Knospe who was riding his motorcycle, and drove away, leaving him to die on the road.

Haro had been previously deported after serving a prison sentence for another crash in 1993, but re-entered the country illegally.

Victim: William Sullo III

Age: 30

In November 2008, Ecuadorian national Jose Maldanado Luzuriaga was arrested for the murder of Mr. Sullo. Police allege that he killed Mr. Sullo who worked as a bartender at the Salute Restaurant in Philadelphia, PA, because he refused to serve him anymore alcohol and later had him removed from the bar.

Luzuriaga allegedly waited outside the bar for Sullo to leave, and upon seeing the bartender exit the building, rammed his F-150 pickup truck into him. He has been charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide (he nearly ran over another bartender in the parking lot), reckless endangerment, and not possessing a driver’s license.

Luzuriaga told police that he had been living in the U.S. for five years.

The on-line memorial goes on and on with names of Americans both young and old who have been sacrificed for political reasons. Not Congress nor our former or current President will actually defend our border, and stop the flow of illegal immigration into the United States.

For many years, the Republicans wanted to keep the border open to fill the country with cheap labor, which benefits business owners by undercutting wages for everyone. The Democrats have sought to keep the border unprotected to bring in millions of potential new voters, which is why that party pays so much lip service to the plight of illegal aliens.

Whether they seek workers willing to work for sub-standard wages, or voters who will keep them in power…It is the American people who have been sold-out by both parties.

Every time I learn that a family has been attacked, or a child has been killed by an illegal alien, I think this must be the tipping point. There are certain dates in this ongoing tragedy which stand out more than others.

Such as on June 22, 2008, when three members of the Bologna family were gunned down by Salvadoran national and MS-13 gang member Edwin Ramos. Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16 were shot to death by Ramos with an AK-47 as they sat in their car on a crowded street, in the city’s Excelsior District

Or on September 10, 2008, the day the parents of 3-year-old Marten Kudlis buried their son at Fairmount Cemetery, while waiting for his ice cream in a Denver Baskin and Robbins.

Guatemalan national Francis Hernandez slammed into a pickup truck, which was then pushed into the ice cream shop’s window. The toddler was sitting at a table in front of that window, and was sent flying as the truck came crashing through it.

This nation sits on the brink of an economic meltdown, while our cities are becoming hunting grounds for predatory criminals. We have enough problems in this country without importing them from foreign lands.

Because we live with it everyday, most Americans understand and fear this growing threat. However, our elected representatives continue to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the mounting death toll.

A weary nation must ask the question…How many Americans have to die before the border is secured?

Until that question is answered…Keep your families close, and go with the understanding that you and you alone are responsible for your own safety.

Police in Leesburg, Virginia are currently searching for Salvadoran national Carlos Felipe Centeno, 21 for the molestation of a 5-year-old girl. Centeno who is in this country illegally, works as a house painter.

On March 19, police distributed a wanted poster, which describes Centeno as between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 200 to 240 pounds. He may be riding a blue Magna bicycle.

Centeno also has an outstanding warrant for another case, in which he is accused of committing forcible sodomy.

On March 12, a Loudon County jury convicted Honduran national Arnold J. Mancia-Morales, 25 of raping a 75-year-old woman in her Sterling Park home. The attack occurred in August 2008. The jury recommended that the illegal alien spend the rest of his life in prison.

Mancia-Morales broke into the woman’s home by smashing-in her glass door sometime after midnight. Awoken by the noise, the woman went to investigate, and was attacked.

Before he was sentenced, the victim’s daughter told the jury how her mother’s life has been impacted by the attack. She told a heart wrenching account of finding her mother one morning, curled up in the fetal position on the floor, weeping, holding onto a book of scriptures and crying out-loud that she wished she had just been killed.

Her daughter said: “I didn’t know what to do, so I just held her.”

Her daughter told the court that her mother now goes to counseling and no longer goes out after dark. She added: “She is always looking over her shoulder.”

Commonwealth’s Attorney James E. Plowman told reporters: “This is an atrocious case, and the victim continues to struggle to deal with this”

Mancia-Morales is no stranger to the courts. In 2006 he was convicted of felony burglary, and four misdemeanor charges between 2007-2008, two of which were assaults. In 2007, he forced himself on a young girl at the Sterling library, he received a 100-day sentence for the attack, but all of the time was suspended.

Incredibly, the day after his sentencing for the rape of the 75-year-old woman, Mancia-Morales was charged with the brutal rape of a 51-year-old woman in the Newberry section of Sterling Park. That attack took place in April 2008.

Northern Virginia has been particularly hard-hit with crimes committed by illegal aliens, following that region’s construction boom of recent years. Of course, the construction industry is dominated by illegal aliens who provide builders with very cheap labor.

The region, along with D.C. has become a stronghold for the violent Salvadoran gang known as MS-13.

Why I am in America Fighting for Free Speech?

Freedom of expression is under attack. This is a theme I am addressing here in America this week as part of the Free Speech Summit being held in Florida under the sponsorship of the Florida Security Council. And it is clear that a serious discussion of the threats to our freedoms in the West cannot come too soon.

For example, my friend Rep. Adam Hasner, the majority leader of the Florida House of Representatives was attacked in a press release issued by the national office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on Monday for daring to appear at a private event with me this past weekend. Because of that appearance, CAIR is demanding that Rep. Hasner step down or be removed from his position.

This attack on a friend and fellow legislator is of grave concern to me. CAIR’s assault on Rep. Hasner strikes at the very heart of our most basic freedoms. In fact, it is but the latest episode in that organization’s long-running and determined effort to silence its critics. Indeed, CAIR seeks to suppress all those who dare to challenge the theo-political-legal program that authoritative Islam calls “Shariah.” In so doing, they are seeking to impose what amount to Shariah blasphemy codes.

It is especially important to note that Adam Hasner is not only being attacked for comments he made that are deemed offensive by those who seek to impose Shariah in America. His career is now being threatened for comments made by others in his presence – in this case, by me. Thus the Islamists are infringing not only on this country’s constitutionally protected freedom of expression but also freedom of association.

If a high-ranking public official – elected by the people and appointed to his leadership position by his peers – cannot speak honestly and openly about his concerns, and do so in places and the company of his choosing, without fear of suppression or other retribution, who among us is safe?

I know these threats firsthand. Even before the international release last year of my short documentary film, Fitna, I have faced constant death threats and protests. My name has appeared on assassination lists. I have been subject of an Al-Qaeda death fatwa. I will be charged with blasphemy and contempt of Muslims by Jordanian prosecutors. I face prosecutions in my own country and elsewhere. I was recently banned from the United Kingdom because the Home Secretary believed my mere presence in the country constituted a national security threat.

In this trying time let us recall that in the darkest hours of World War II, when the world faced a global threat from German Nazism, Italian Fascism and Japanese Imperialism, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill challenged his people to rise to the occasion and fight. He told them, “Never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

This is why I am in America this week talking about the fight we now must wage in the West to defend our liberties. Freedom of association is one of the basic liberties guaranteed not only by the US Constitution but by the European Convention of Human Rights. And yet CAIR wants to silence and punish Rep. Hasner for associating with me. If America needs a poster child for the threat to our freedoms from Islamic extremism, no better example than CAIR could be found.

This episode underscores that the threat to freedom posed by creeping Shariah imposed by CAIR’s type of stealthy jihad is not just a problem in the Middle East, or Europe. It is also a problem in America.

I will not be bullied by Islamic thugs who want to use our freedoms to destroy those very same freedoms. And I will not stand by as they seek to do it to others.

Founded and directed by members of the international network of the Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR has an explicit agenda to subvert our freedoms and impose Islamic Shariah law on non-Muslims. This is not speculation on my part. This is the testimony of one of CAIR’s founders and chairman emeritus, Omar Ahmed, who told a California audience in 1998 that this was their agenda. “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant,” he said. “The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.” When CAIR officials say that this is their ultimate objective, we should believe them.

In just the past few weeks, the Council on American Islamic Relations has sought to silence another courageous lawmaker, Rep. Peter King, the ranking member on the Homeland Security Committee in the US House of Representatives. His “offense”? Rep. King correctly observed that CAIR and other Muslims were not providing enough assistance to the law enforcement authorities in combating terrorism-related activities in American mosques.

CAIR has attempted to silence other critics, as well. They have sued bloggers; they have defamed journalists who have asked too many questions about their terrorist ties; and they have tried to intimidate publications that have published articles challenging their putative “civil rights mission.” If they get away with it, CAIR will seek to threaten the careers of more politicians with the courage to say things and associate with those of challenge Shariah and the effort to impose it in this country.

It is utterly hypocritical that, on the one hand, CAIR claims to be defending freedom of religion in attacking Rep. Hasner when, on the other, they actively seek support from Islamic regimes that are among the worst of the worst human rights abusers on the planet – and notorious for suppressing religious freedoms.

I have been told that in an Arabic News article that CAIR officials have solicited and received financial support from Saudi Prince Al-Walid Bin Talal, whose country outlaws any religious expression except its own Wahhabi strain of Islam. You can’t even own a Bible or wear a cross in the country run by their patrons, and yet CAIR wants to lecture us about religious freedom?

The land for CAIR’s Capitol Hill office in Washington D.C. was purchased with a $250,000 donation from the Saudi-backed Islamic Development Bank and the deed to their headquarters is held by the foundation of United Arab Emirates Defense Minister Gen. Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum. Sheik al-Maktoum’s country prohibits any non-Islamic religious proselytizing and threatens anyone caught with distribution of non-Muslim religious literature with imprisonment.

In September 2006, CAIR hosted an exclusive dinner with former Iranian President Mohammed Khatami. Under Khatami’s regime religious minorities were severely persecuted, non-Muslims were regularly harassed, and hundreds of student protestors murdered. The fact that CAIR chose to honor this dictator who is still a senior member of the Islamic theocracy in Iran tells us much.

Whether it is in America or back home in my own country, we are under attack by groups like CAIR who aim to silence their critics. This is why I am here in America. I aim to continue to fight regardless of the threats and intimidation and I am asking Americans to join with us. And when they attack good men like Rep. Adam Hasner, we must realize that they are attacking each and every one of us and the freedoms that we hold dear.

Homeland Security Contracts for Vast New Detention Camps

Note: A little-known $385 million contract for Halliburton subsidiary KBR to build detention facilities for “an emergency influx of immigrants” is another step down the Bush administration’s road toward martial law, the writer says.

BERKELEY, CA — A Halliburton subsidiary has just received a $385 million contract from the Department of Homeland Security to provide “temporary detention and processing capabilities.”

The contract — announced Jan. 24 by the engineering and construction firm KBR — calls for preparing for “an emergency influx of immigrants, or to support the rapid development of new programs” in the event of other emergencies, such as “a natural disaster.” The release offered no details about where Halliburton was to build these facilities, or when.

To date, some newspapers have worried that open-ended provisions in the contract could lead to cost overruns, such as have occurred with KBR in Iraq. A Homeland Security spokesperson has responded that this is a “contingency contract” and that conceivably no centers might be built. But almost no paper so far has discussed the possibility that detention centers could be used to detain American citizens if the Bush administration were to declare martial law.

For those who follow covert government operations abroad and at home, the contract evoked ominous memories of Oliver North’s controversial Rex-84 “readiness exercise” in 1984. This called for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to round up and detain 400,000 imaginary “refugees,” in the context of “uncontrolled population movements” over the Mexican border into the United States. North’s activities raised civil liberties concerns in both Congress and the Justice Department. The concerns persist.

“Almost certainly this is preparation for a roundup after the next 9/11 for Mid-Easterners, Muslims and possibly dissenters,” says Daniel Ellsberg, a former military analyst who in 1971 released the Pentagon Papers, the U.S. military’s account of its activities in Vietnam. “They’ve already done this on a smaller scale, with the ’special registration’ detentions of immigrant men from Muslim countries, and with Guantanamo.”

Plans for detention facilities or camps have a long history, going back to fears in the 1970s of a national uprising by black militants. As Alonzo Chardy reported in the Miami Herald on July 5, 1987, an executive order for continuity of government (COG) had been drafted in 1982 by FEMA head Louis Giuffrida. The order called for “suspension of the Constitution” and “declaration of martial law.” The martial law portions of the plan were outlined in a memo by Giuffrida’s deputy, John Brinkerhoff.

In 1985, President Reagan signed National Security Decision Directive 188, one of a series of directives that authorized continued planning for COG by a private parallel government.

Two books, James Mann’s “Rise of the Vulcans” and James Bamford’s “A Pretext for War,” have revealed that in the 1980s this parallel structure, operating outside normal government channels, included the then-head of G. D. Searle and Co., Donald Rumsfeld, and then-Congressman from Wyoming Dick Cheney.

After 9/11, new martial law plans began to surface similar to those of FEMA in the 1980s. In January 2002 the Pentagon submitted a proposal for deploying troops on American streets. One month later John Brinkerhoff, the author of the 1982 FEMA memo, published an article arguing for the legality of using U.S. troops for purposes of domestic security.

Then in April 2002, Defense Dept. officials implemented a plan for domestic U.S. military operations by creating a new U.S. Northern Command (CINC-NORTHCOM) for the continental United States. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld called this “the most sweeping set of changes since the unified command system was set up in 1946.”

The NORTHCOM commander, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld announced, is responsible for “homeland defense and also serves as head of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD)…. He will command U.S. forces that operate within the United States in support of civil authorities. The command will provide civil support not only in response to attacks, but for natural disasters.”

John Brinkerhoff later commented on PBS that, “The United States itself is now for the first time since the War of 1812 a theater of war. That means that we should apply, in my view, the same kind of command structure in the United States that we apply in other theaters of war.”

Then in response to Hurricane Katrina in Sept. 2005, according to the Washington Post, White House senior adviser Karl Rove told the governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, that she should explore legal options to impose martial law “or as close as we can get.” The White House tried vigorously, but ultimately failed, to compel Gov. Blanco to yield control of the state National Guard.

Also in September, NORTHCOM conducted its highly classified Granite Shadow exercise in Washington. As William Arkin reported in the Washington Post, “Granite Shadow is yet another new Top Secret and compartmented operation related to the military’s extra-legal powers regarding weapons of mass destruction. It allows for emergency military operations in the United States without civilian supervision or control.”

It is clear that the Bush administration is thinking seriously about martial law. Many critics have alleged that FEMA’s spectacular failure to respond to Katrina followed from a deliberate White House policy: of paring back FEMA, and instead strengthening the military for responses to disasters.

A multimillion program for detention facilities will greatly increase NORTHCOM’s ability to respond to any domestic disorders.

For all the predictions of a key labor endorsement tipping the scales against her, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s ties to the Latino community and her connections to female voters provided the critical margin for her victory in Nevada’s Democratic caucuses yesterday.

The support of those two key voting blocs, along with her continued strong showing among union and working-class households, provides the New York senator with a potentially critical edge as the campaign moves toward Feb. 5, when 22 states, including key Western and Southwestern states with similar demographics as Nevada, cast their ballots in a near-national primary.

(AP) A U.S. Border Patrol agent killed after being struck by a fleeing vehicle along the border in southeastern California was identified Sunday as a 32-year-old husband and father of two.

Senior Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar was trying to stop a suspected smuggler who had illegally entered the country from Mexico when he was hit, according to Agent Michael Bernacke, a spokesman for the agency’s Yuma sector.

The incident happened in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area about 20 miles west of Yuma at about 9 a.m. Saturday.

Bernacke said Aguilar was trying to place spike strips in the path of a Hummer and a Ford pickup truck on Interstate 8 when the suspected smuggler’s vehicle hit and killed him.

Both vehicles fled into Mexico.

The FBI is leading the investigation, along with other federal, state and local authorities. Bernacke said Mexican authorities also have been contacted and that they are lending their full support to capture those involved.

“Today we mourn the loss of one of our own,” Border Patrol Chief David Aguilar said in a statement. “This serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers our agents face every day while securing our nation’s border and our way of life.”

Bernacke said Aguilar was from El Paso, Texas and lived in Yuma with his family.

After a phone call was placed to Aguilar’s home, family members declined to comment through a man who identified himself only as Border Patrol Agent Ruiz.

“They’re still not strong enough to make any comments,” Ruiz said. “He (Aguilar) was a terrific guy and everyone here took a big loss. We’re all trying to cope, especially the family. We’re trying to be as supportive as we can, and be here for them.”

The Imperial Sand Dunes are the largest dunes in California, extending north of the border for 40 miles and averaging five miles wide.

The area is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts but also is frequently used by smugglers trying to bring people or drugs into the country from Mexico.

US border agent hit, killed by suspect’s car | Reuters
PHOENIX, Jan 19 (Reuters) – A U.S. Border Patrol agent trying to stop a suspected drug smuggler was struck and killed by the suspect’s car in southern California on Saturday, border police said.

The unidentified agent was hit as he tried to stop a sport utility vehicle on a road about 20 miles (32 km) west of Yuma, Arizona, at around 9:30 a.m. local time, Border Patrol agent Jeremy Schappell said.

“The agent was laying a spike strip across the road when the vehicle swerved and struck him. He died at the scene,” Schappell said in a telephone interview.

He said Border Patrol agents had been pursuing two vehicles that were suspected of smuggling narcotics north from Mexico, near the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, in southeast California.

After the incident, both vehicles fled the scene.

The dead agent’s name was not released by the patrol.

Last year, the U.S. Border Patrol arrested more than 880,000 people crossing illegally from Mexico and seized hundreds of tons of narcotics.

Dope “pedaling” took on a whole new meaning in recent days after U.S. border police nabbed two Mexicans smuggling bundles of marijuana into the United States loaded onto bicycles.

Border Patrol agents in Calexico, California, said on Monday they arrested the two men after they slipped over the All American Canal from Mexico in a raft early on January 4.

“Once on the north bank, the two individuals were observed getting out of the raft and dragging what appeared to be large bundles of contraband onto the shoreline,” the Border Patrol said in a news release.

“The two individuals then pulled bicycles out of the raft and loaded the bundles into prefabricated boxes attached to the bike frames,” it added.

Agents arrested the two men shortly afterward as they pedaled along a darkened farm road with 110 pounds of pot valued at $88,000 packed into their panniers.

The marijuana, bicycles and both men were turned over to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office, the Border Patrol said.

Each year, Mexican smugglers haul hundreds of tons of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines over the border to market in the United States in a clandestine trade worth billions of dollars.

Much of the contraband is packed into vehicles and driven north through the ports of entry, or walked up over the wilds of the 2,000-mile (3,200-km) border on foot or on horseback.

Smuggling on bicycles is less common.

Without announcing his intentions to do so, President Bush has decided to support the creation of a North American Union through a process of governmental regulations, never having to bring the issue before the American people for a clear referendum or vote.

The Bush Administration has decided to “back-door” the creation of a North American Union political entity that would effectively erase our borders with Mexico and Canada and create several super-regional governing bodies that would have jurisdiction over the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court.
